Here are some of the ways you can help us:
)We need people to assist in the temporary foster care of animals. This would include situations like someone finding a dog on Sundays or holidays when Animal Control is unavailable and the finder is not able to keep the dog. Foster care may also be needed in other situations such as unweaned puppies and kittens. Foster care is also needed for animals we rescue, until they can be adopted out.
)Take charge of a single fund raiser. These will include but not be limited to the Movie Fundraiser, rummage sales, Springtime Fair, Fall Harvest Fair, Mountain Festival, the Christmas Craft sale and the Christmas dinner (team up with a friend, it doesn’t have to be 1 person).
)Adopt A Teacher program, take charge of advertising and signing up teachers that would like to participate.
)Take charge of an awards program for our members. For example, research prices for a service pin and present findings to the Board for purchasing. Plan other recognition awards.
5) Take care of major advertising campaign in January and February on spaying and neutering to help prevent litters in the spring.
Most of the following programs come with a package that will assist in advertising and administration of the program. They are once a year programs and again, it doesn’t have to be 1 person!
)Be Kind To Animals Week, May 2-8.
)National Homeless Animals Day, Aug.21.
)Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 7-13.
)Adopt A Shelter Cat month, in June.
)Adopt A Shelter Dog month, in October.
)Nominating committee in September. Three members are needed to call all the members and create a list of nominees for officer positions for the next year and give it to the Board at their October meeting.
)Assist with tasks, i.e., folding, stapling, stamping and envelope stuffing as needed.
)Bakers for bake sales.
)Craft makers for our December craft sale.
)Drivers needed to transport pets and their owners to a veterinary hospital. Drivers also needed to transport animals from a shelter to a rescue group, another volunteer, or other places.
)People to assist our Humane Education Coordinator.
